Pool Safety Roster

At Darwin 's main competition pool, Casuarina Swimming Pool, the two small pools are out of bounds to all people at the swim meet. These pools will be patrolled on a Club roster system. Nightcliff will be responsible for providing an adult for 1 hour at every swim meet.

During Swim Meets, all communication with the Officials Booth must be done through the Team Manager who is responsible for :

  • Marshalling swimmers
  • Disputes with officials
  • Programming errors
  • Late entries/scratching (must be done before competition starts)
  • Disqualification information

At swim meets, parents are asked to:

  • assist with timekeeping as every club is expected to supply at least 3 timekeepers plus officials for every swim meet. No experience is necessary and it is guaranteed ‘best' seat in the house!
  • seek the advice and assistance from the Team Manager if there is a question or problem;
  • refrain from approaching officials or attending the “officials box” to make any request or complaint – this should be done by the Team Manager;
  • not enter the marshalling area. A parent may, at the request of the Team Manager, be asked to assist in the marshalling of the younger or inexperienced children.

Nightcliff Swimming Club, as well as hosting several Club events, is rostered for inter-club meets. Our responsibility when we are Duty Club is to:

  • Attend the gate and collect gate takings on behalf of Swimming NT.
  • ‘Dress' and ‘undress' the pool (touch pads, lane ropes, electronic timing, Timekeepers/ Marshalling chairs etc)
  • Provide refreshments for officials.
  • Provide one “runner' to assist the Meet Director.
  • Negotiate with pool management re selling of drinks, BBQ etc.

At the end of the swim meet it is compulsory for all Nightcliff Swimming Club swimmers to stay for the presentation (unless prior approval has been gained from the coach). This rule is important as it fosters team spirit and support for our swimmers.
