Entries to swim meets are via an ‘entry card' and are coordinated by the Club Registrar and then sent on to the NT Swimming Data Manager for compilation of the Meet Program. Copies of the ‘entry card' appear in the back of this Handbook.
Although the Coach will encourage swimmers to compete, it is the responsibility of the swimmers/parents to organise their entry. Parents/carers, please consult with your child/children before entering them into competition to avoid having to withdraw your child/children at the Meet. Payment of entry fees must be included with entries and are unable to be refunded under any circumstances (including illness) .
Prior to each swim meet, the Club Registrar will send out a reminder (via email to those who have supplied an email address) with all the meet details, entry cost and due date. Limited hard copies of this advice will be available in the clubroom. Parents are asked to place completed entry forms and entry fees in a sealed envelope in the ‘mailbox' in the Clubroom by the due date. Late entries are not normally accepted by Swimming NT but you should call the Club Registrar who will try to assist.
If you are not sure of the swimmers official time, leave it blank as the Registrar has a record of all swimmers' official times (if they have swum that event before) and will check each entry before it goes to the swim meet host. Swimmers who do not have an official time for an event (i.e. they are swimming the event for the first time at a swim meet) should do a time trial with their coach and use this time . Times are used to seed the swimmers and therefore accurate times mean an appropriate heat for the swimmer.
If swimmers are not at training, a copy of the entry card is provided at the back of this Handbook and at the Swimming NT web site. This form can be copied or down loaded and put in the Club's ‘mailbox' before the due date. If families are going on holiday but expect to be back for a swim meet, entries can be made prior to the due date. To ensure that your entries and money do not get misplaced, please secure them in a clearly marked and sealed envelope in the mailbox in the club room.
Swim meet results and swimmers' official times will be posted on the notice board at the pool and sent out via email after each swim meet. Keeping personal records of times provides all swimmers with an idea of their own improvements and encourages every swimmer to do their best against their own time. In swimming all swimmers should be aiming to improve their personal best time and in race events to beat their own records. This aim and philosophy is what swimming is about.
