Race Information
Please do make sure you take the time to read the detailed race information as it outlines everything you need to know to prepare for race day. It is packed with useful information, including your start times, directions to the venue, course information and so on.
Weather Forecast
The forecast is looking warm for the rest of the week, so please ensure you remain fully hydrated in the build up to and during the race. To keep an eye on the weather leading up to the race click here. There will be a water station on the run course and at the finish, but please bring a full bottle for your bike. If you are not feeling well please listen to your body and don't race.
The Swim and Wetsuits
Under International Triathlon Union (ITU) and British Triathlon Federation (BTF) rulings, wetsuits are banned when the water temperature is over 22 degrees (Note: High Performance Drafting Participants are different, see note below). The current water temperature is 21.6 degrees. The race official will take the temperature 1 hour before your race time and ONLY at that point will determine if wetsuits are optional or banned. To be prepared for both eventualities, we strongly suggest that you have alternative swimwear along with your wetsuit.
13-17 years High Performance Drafting Triathlon Wave Participants – IMPORTANT
For those of you who are participating in the 13-17 years High Performance Triathlon Wave, you will need to follow the additional 2 rules:
1. Wetsuits are banned when the water temperature is above 20 degrees and NOT 22 degrees as per the note above. The race official will take the temperature 1 hour before your race time and ONLY at that point will determine if wetsuits are optional or banned.
2. You will need to ensure that your bike meets BTF and ITU rules in order to compete in this wave.
Car Parking
One for your parents, however can you ask them to follow the marshal’s instructions on arrival. The race course does not affect parking so you can leave at any time. Remember this is a public place so please do not leave valuables on display. You will have at least an 800m walk to the race site, so allow yourself extra time after your car is parked. Please keep off the bike course and do not cross any roped-off areas.
Registration
Registration will take place in the marquee between 09:00 and 13:30 Please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to register and rack your bike. Please have your BTF race licence or £2 ready to pay for a BTF day membership. You will also need to show some form of photo ID at registration.
When you arrive please find your race number on the board and remember it so we can process you quickly at registration. Your registration Race Pack envelope will contain your race numbers and sticky labels for your bike and helmet, plus your coloured swim cap along with your event t-shirt. You will also be given a security wrist band which you should show to the transition crew at all times to gain access into transition. Then you have to pick up your timing chip at another desk.
Timing Chip
At registration you will be issued with an electronic timing chip which you wear on your ankle on the opposite side to the chain on your bike. There will be a Velcro strap holding the chip which fixes around your ankle; please do not lose this chip as you will be charged £35 to replace it.
Equipment
Please write your name on your bike, helmet and wetsuit (if used). All the equipment looks the same in the transition and it will make it easier for us to find the correct bike, helmet and wetsuit that belongs to you if you have your name on them.
Transition Rule
Please note that NO PARENTS are allowed into the transition area. The only exception to this will be if invited by race officials in exceptional circumstances.
Food and Facilities
