Lucozade Sport Race Your Pace Half Marathon 2010

Lucozade Sport

With just over two weeks to go until the Lucozade Sport Race Your Pace Half Marathon, on Sunday 28 March, we want to make sure you come prepared:

Detailed Race Information

This will be emailed to you next week, outlining start times, maps and everything you need to know about the race. It will also be available on the website to download.

We won’t be mailing out your race number and timing chip – these will be collected at registration on the day. More info to follow.

Preparation

Now is a great time to get your head around the things you want to achieve from the event. Whilst some of you are coming to race hard, many of you will be coming to this great event with the goal of understanding pacing for a different race and that’s where we come in; some of it is still up to you though. Think about your target time and how this breaks down for both 13.1miles and, if relevant, 26.2miles. Knowing this will help you in your seminar and enable you to get to grips with the advice on offer that bit quicker.

Not sure what this means? Not a problem – double Olympian Liz Yelling and the Lucozade Sport Scientists will be on hand to help.

Seminars

There are still places available in the 20 minute post race seminars, hosted by Liz, so if you would like to get the most out of your preparation for a spring marathon, you can register and pay on the day. Cost is £5.

Two things towards a big difference

Preparing for Lucozade Sport Race Your Pace is about two things: getting the right nutrition your body needs and understanding the final training requirements before the start at Dorney Lake, Eton on Sunday 28th March.

Your body needs you

As experts in sports nutrition, we know that the fuel you put in your body can help you get closer to reaching your PB. So to give you the best possible chance:
  • Make sure, if you haven’t already, you’ve tried the products available to you on course in your remaining runs. To help boost carbohydrate levels, Lucozade Sport Body Fuel will be provided around the course and you may also like to try Lucozade Sport Carbo Gels or Lucozade Sport Jelly Beans.
  • Rehearse your nutritional strategy for before, during and after your running in these final few weeks, so that you know exactly what works for you to get the best results on race day.
  • Recovery will also be essential for your last few long runs to ensure you get your body back to where it was before you set off, allowing you to maximise your next run. Why not try products from the Lucozade Sport Recovery range to replace fluids and carbohydrate and offer your muscles valuable protein.

Simple steps to a great race

With race day around the corner, you can really focus on these last couple of weeks and make sure that you arrive on the start line fresh and ready for the challenge ahead. As a guide, in the final 2 weeks leading up to your half marathon keep the frequency of your running up but drop the volume; cut your miles by 25% with 2 weeks to go and 50% in the final week. Rest and recuperation are also a key part, so listen to your body and try not to overdo it.
