MudMan Update – Wednesday 2nd December
It’s only 3 days to go until Merrell MudMan 2009 and we thought we’d just give you a quick update on some of the final details. Please ensure that you are fully prepared for Saturday by reading the information below, as well as the full race information.
Weather
The weather for Saturday looks like it might have finally stopped raining, but there may still be a few isolated showers. It’s forecast to be cold so make sure you have enough warm clothing with you – both for during the race and post race. Due to the recent heavy rain the ground is a little muddy, and if it freezes overnight then this will create some interesting racing conditions so be please aware!
Registration
In order to make the registration process a little quicker on Saturday morning, please check your race number from the entry list on our website. Click through to the race page and 'View Entry List' can be found on the right hand side. You will all need to pick up your race numbers from the registration area before racing.
Race info
If you haven’t already seen this, then please be sure to read it before Saturday – it contains all the information you might need. Please go to the pdf at the bottom of the webpage on the website.
Duathletes - What is a mountain bike?
This sounds like an odd question but this is a mountain bike event, and as such we are not allowing the use of cyclocross bikes. Our definition of a mountain bike is:
- It must look like a classic MTB - Hardtail of Full Sus.
- Flat or riser handlebars - basically no drop handlebars
- Wheels should be 26 inch UNLESS the bike is one of the new generation 29er style MTB's
- Tyres need to be at least 1.5 inches wide
- Multiple gear bike - NO single speed bikes
Bikes will be checked when entering the transition area – if your bike doesn’t conform to the above, then you risk not being allowed to race.
Human Race merchandise
There will be a special promotion of Human Race merchandise on the day of the event – winter gilets and fleece jackets. See photos on the website under the Shop Tab. Be sure to bring some cash with you so that you don’t miss out!
And finally
Last, but certainly not least, if you are doing the duathlon please ensure that your bike is in good order – especially the tyres and the brakes. The course is rugged and is designed to allow you to have fun, but if you get a puncture half way round then it’s a long way back to transition if you can’t fix it there and then. Make sure you are prepared for anything!!
See you all on Saturday.
Good luck and enjoy.
Regards
